Inches to centimetres
- Input
- 36 inches to centimetres.
- Working
- 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly, so 36 × 2.54 = 91.44.
- Result
- 36 inches = 91.44 cm
Convert between metric and imperial units across length, weight, temperature, volume and more — with exact defined factors, in your browser. Runs entirely in your browser — your numbers never leave this device.

Every conversion on this page goes through a base unit. Length is based on the metre, weight on the gram, volume on the millilitre, and so on. Each unit has one defined factor — an inch is exactly 0.0254 metres, a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms — so converting from unit A to unit B means multiplying by A's factor and dividing by B's factor. Because the factors are definitions, not measurements, the results do not drift or depend on a data feed.
Temperature is the one exception to the multiply-only rule, because its scales have different zero points as well as different step sizes: Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9/5 + 32, and Kelvin = Celsius + 273.15. Fuel consumption is the other special case, because miles per gallon and litres per 100 km are reciprocals as well as different units, so a bigger number means better economy in one system and worse economy in the other.
Use the dedicated category converters when you need depth — a full table, batch conversion of a list, or a trap checked for you. The common traps are named on those pages: a US gallon is not an imperial gallon, a megabyte sold by a drive maker is not a mebibyte shown by an operating system, and a stone is 14 pounds, not 10. This all-in-one page is for breadth; the category pages are for certainty.
Yes, for the defined units. The inch (2.54 cm), foot (0.3048 m), mile (1,609.344 m), pound (0.45359237 kg) and US gallon (3.785411784 L) are fixed by international definition, so conversions using them are exact before display rounding. Units such as the calorie are also defined exactly here (1 cal = 4.184 J).
Because its scales start at different zeros. Zero Celsius is 32 Fahrenheit, not zero, so the conversion needs an offset as well as a scale factor: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Length and weight scales share a true zero, so they convert by multiplication alone.
A US gallon is exactly 3.785411784 litres, while an imperial gallon is exactly 4.54609 litres — about 20% larger. The Volume Converter keeps them as separate, labelled units, because mixing them up is the single most common volume error in recipes, fuel figures and tank sizes.
Yes. The converter layouts on Kwikfig include a batch mode: paste a list of values and every line is converted with the same factor, which is the job a single-answer search widget handles badly. The dedicated pair pages, such as Centimeters to Inches, offer the same batch mode for one specific conversion.
No. Every converter on Kwikfig runs entirely in your browser. Values you type or paste are never uploaded, saved or tracked — close the tab and they are gone.
