Days Until Calculator

Count the days until any date — a birthday, deadline, holiday or launch — in days, weeks, hours and minutes, with past dates shown honestly as days since. Runs entirely in your browser — your numbers never leave this device.

Days until
60
31 December 2026 is 60 days after 1 November 2026.
Days until
60
In weeks and days
8 weeks, 4 days
In hours
1,440
In minutes
86,400

The count is in whole calendar days between the two dates — it is the same at 9 am and 9 pm. Hours and minutes simply scale the day count (×24 and ×1,440); they are not a live ticking countdown.

How it works

Days until = target date − today, counted on whole calendar days | Hours = days × 24 | Minutes = days × 1,440

Pick a target date and the tool counts the whole calendar days from today (your device's local date, picked up when the page loads) to that date. The answer is also expressed as weeks plus remaining days, and scaled into hours and minutes — those are the day count multiplied by 24 and 1,440, a statement about the span, not a live ticking clock: the count is identical at 9 in the morning and 9 at night, because it is measured in whole days.

Past dates are handled honestly rather than hidden. Enter a date that has already gone by and the answer flips to 'days since', with the same breakdown — useful for anniversaries, streaks and 'how long since' questions, and clearer than a negative countdown. A target of today reads zero, with the page saying so in words.

If you need to count from a date other than today — planning from a start date, or checking a span you read about — the 'counting from' field is editable. Everything runs in your browser; the dates you enter are never uploaded.

Worked examples

Days until New Year's Eve (counting from 1 November 2026)

Input
From = 2026-11-01, Target = 2026-12-31
Working
1 November is day 305 of 2026 and 31 December is day 365. 365 − 305 = 60 days — also 8 weeks and 4 days, or 1,440 hours.
Result
60 days until 31 December 2026

Days until a birthday (counting from 1 November 2026)

Input
From = 2026-11-01, Target = 2027-06-15
Working
60 days remain in 2026 after 1 November, and 15 June is day 166 of 2027. 60 + 166 = 226 days.
Result
226 days until 15 June 2027

One week out (counting from Sunday 1 November 2026)

Input
From = 2026-11-01, Target = 2026-11-08
Working
The target is the following Sunday: exactly 7 days, which is 1 week, 168 hours or 10,080 minutes.
Result
7 days until 8 November 2026

Frequently asked questions

Does the count include today?

No. The count is the number of whole days you must travel through to reach the target: an event tomorrow is 1 day away, and an event today is 0. This matches how deadlines and most countdowns are quoted. If you need both endpoints counted, the Days Between Dates calculator has an include-end-date toggle.

What happens when the date has already passed?

The tool switches to 'days since' and counts backwards from today to the date, with the same weeks/hours/minutes breakdown. Nothing is hidden behind a negative number — a date 60 days in the past simply reads '60 days since'.

Are the hours and minutes a live countdown?

No — they are the day count scaled up (days × 24 hours, days × 1,440 minutes). A live to-the-second countdown would change every time you looked and would depend on the exact hour of the event; the whole-day count is the stable, quotable figure. For a ticking timer, use the Stopwatch & Timer tool.

Whose 'today' does it use?

Yours — the local date on your device when the page loads. That is the right definition for a personal countdown. If you are counting down to an event in another timezone and the date boundary matters, adjust the 'counting from' field to the date it is (or will be) there.

How do I count days until something from a different start date?

Edit the 'counting from' field. It defaults to today but accepts any date, which turns the tool into a general span checker between two dates in either direction.

Are my dates stored or tracked?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser; the dates never leave your device and there is no history after you close the tab.
